Traditional savings accounts and ISAs can barely offer meaningful interest rates. Market benchmarks have been flat for a few years. The yields on Government Bonds, Treasury Bills, and Gilts have been so low recently that in some cases investors are actually paying for the privilege of lending money to Governments. This is all in the face of creeping inflation.
Alternative investments on the other hand provide an opportunity for inflation-beating positions. Some of the private companies we represent are structured to pay a dividend once profitable. A dividend is allocated as a fixed amount per share. Therefore, a shareholder receives a dividend in proportion to their shareholding. This can be a very effective way of earning whilst the company positions itself for exit.
